Schildwache Potsdam invites to the second edition of the Swords of the Renaissance on 16 October 2021. The event will take place on Campus I – am Neuem Palais, Potsdam, Germany.
Once again, within the picturesque setting of the New Palace in Potsdam, a meeting of historical fencers will take place with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience connected to 15th–17th century European fencing. 4–6 workshops led by instructors invited from all over Europe are planned. The theme of the meeting will be centred around fencing traditions from different parts of Europe, including Bolognese tradition, German tradition of Master Meyer’s teachings, English tradition of Silver’s teachings, and Spanish Destreza.
A fencing mask, neck protector, and light gloves are mandatory to participate. It is advisable to wear a fencing jacket and a full set of protectors. Depending on the weather, the workshops will take place either in the open air or indoors. Lunch break with a buffet and an evening integration in town are planned.
