Our foundation prepared fight choreography for the “Jehanne” theatre play

Foundation for Historical Martial Arts created fight choreography for the “Jehanne” theatre play.

We are pleased to inform you that the “Jehanne” play premiered on the 17th of November 2020. The play narrates the events from the life of Joan of Arc and is based on the works of George Bernard Shaw (Saint Joan, 1924) and Paul Claudel (Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, 1939). The play was prepared by “Yorric” student theatre attached to the st. Thomas Aquinas school in Józefów.

Our foundation supported this initiative by creating the choreography for a battle scene in the play, which you can watch at the 48 min mark. Additionally, young actors received training on the basics of historical fencing. The instructors involved and the authors of the choreography were Jędrzej Jakubowski and Konrad Świderek. Jędrzej, who was responsible for most of the mentoring work with artists, deserves special gratitude for his effort.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the play could not be staged in front of the audience, it was instead recorded and published on YouTube.

We invite you to watch it here:
